The Björk Songbook
Inversion and Density512 present The Björk Songbook October 28, 2023.
The Björk Songbook is a special collaboration between Inversion Ensemble and Density512 that pays tribute to legendary Icelandic singer Björk with freshly reimagined versions of her most beloved songs including Venus As a Boy, Hidden Place, It’s Oh So Quiet, Human Behaviour and more – all set for voices and chamber orchestra by local Austin composers.
Tales of the Sea
Inversion Coda presents Tales of the Sea August 8, 2023.
Inversion’s 50-and-better ensemble Coda launches Inversion’s exciting eighth season with Tales of the Sea that re-imagines sea shanties, navigates ocean ecology and conservation, and explores the wonders of the deep. The program features world premiere compositions by Inversion in-house composers Carol Brown, Marjorie Halloran, Evan Blaché, Trevor Shaw, Suzette Emberton, James Tecuatl-Lee, and Adrienne Inglis.
Star Stuff
Inversion Nova presents Star Stuff June 11, 2023.
Inversion’s brand new youth choir Nova under the direction of Juli Orlandini presents its inaugural concert “Star Stuff” with music that inspires exploration and a sense of wonder, connection, and belonging. Young singers enjoy the unique opportunity to perform solo and choral music by living composers. The program includes world premieres of works by Inversion in-house composers Suzette Emberton, Trevor Shaw, and Adrienne Inglis.
Planet Home
Inversion presents Planet Home February 25 and 26, 2023.
Planet Home honors the earth and examines our place in its threatened ecosystem by featuring the soundscapes of Seylon Stills, as well as works by in-house composers Carol Brown, Suzette Emberton, Adrienne Inglis, and Trevor Shaw. Inversion also performs the winning composition Afternoon on a Hill by the Sandra Fivecoat Memorial Emerging Composer Contest Jeffrey Derus, and pieces by Rich Campbell, Santiago Vero, and Stephen Jackson.
Origins
Inversion Da Capo presents Origins January 21, 2023.
Inversion's treble chorus, Da Capo, unites the new with the old at their concert, Origins, on Saturday, January 21, 2023. In collaboration with pianist Dr. Joseph Choi and clarinetist Brendan Fairleigh, Da Capo presents new music that is inspired by our collective human history, paying tribute to our roots while forging new artistic paths together. Origins features brand new works by Inversion’s in-house composers Suzette Emberton, Adrienne Inglis, and Steven Sérpa, and local composer Susan Meitz, plus gorgeous favorites by Rosephanye Powell, Karen P. Thomas, and others.
Raise a Glass
Beerthoven and Inversion present Coda in Raise a Glass August 5, 2022
Our seventh season kicked off with a fun evening and collaboration with Beerthoven at Saengerrunde Hall, one of Austin's oldest establishments featuring Inversion's 50-and-better ensemble, Coda. The concert of re-imagined drinking songs arranged by Inversion’s own in-house composers.
Fire and Ice
Inversion Da Capo presents Fire and Ice May 21-22, 2022.
Inversion's treble chorus, Da Capo, explores the passions and seasons of life at their in-person concert, Fire and Ice, on May 21 and 22, 2022. In collaboration with flute and harp duo Chaski, Da Capo delves into the partnerships between love and loss, chaos and order, and darkness and light. Featuring works by Ola Gjeilo and R. Murray Shafer; in-house composers Trevor Shaw, Adrienne Inglis, and Joshua Chai; and Cole Reyes, the winner of the Inversion Sandra Fivecoat Memorial Emerging Composer Contest Under 35 Division.
