SEASON 11
Inversion’s Eleventh Season Portals and Journeys is all about the exploration of timelines and how moving from one to the next feels like entering a whole new world. Mentally and spiritually, it also means broadening one’s way of thinking, and finding ways by which a person taps into their higher consciousness and/or connects with beings on a higher plane.

Encore: Wanting Memories
September 5, 2026 at 7PM • St. James’ Episcopal Church
On September 5, 2026, Encore, Inversion’s community choir for singers aged 50+, will perform a concert called “Wanting Memories.” We all know someone struggling with or has passed away due to complications from cognitive decline; one day is always different from the next, and it is hard both for the person who has it and their caregivers. “Wanting Memories” is about the desire to remember, the willingness to let go, the acceptance of new realities, and, eventually, experiencing healing. This project benefits the Love Notes Choir, a community choir for people with early-stage memory loss and their caregivers.
Sacra et Profana
October 24, 2026 at 7PM and October 25, 2026 at 4PM
On October 24 & 25, 2026 our flagship mixed choir presents “Sacra et Profana,” a concert that heralds the arrival of the Thinning Veil–the three days spanning October 31 to November 2, dedicated to remembering the dead, including martyrs, saints, and the dearly departed. There are two major works featured in this concert. The first one, “MISA”, is a setting of the Latin Mass for a cappella chorus by Filipino composer Ryan Cayabyab (sacra), choreographed by Alexa Capareda. The second is “Unfashioned Creature” (profana) by Timothy C. Takach, a choral ballet, choreographed by Penelope Freeh, scored for choir, cello, and percussion that takes themes from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein: rejection, self-discovery, and love. This concert benefits the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, which provides Austin-area musicians with access to affordable health, wellness, and prevention services.

Encore: Time After Time
7pm, March 20, 2027
On March 20, 2027, Inversion: Encore presents “Time After Time”. This nostalgia-forward concert features songs from the Golden Age of Music, complete with a jazz band from ATX Artists for Social Impact. Our Inversion Cares partner for this concert is AGE of Central Texas, an organization that helps older adults and their caregivers thrive as they navigate the realities and opportunities of aging and caregiving.

On April 24 & 25, 2027, Da Capo presents “Stripped”, a concert that focuses on female and female-presenting bodies, the stigma attached to them, and the need for protection from sexual assault and abuse. It aims to strip people of their preconceived ideas about bodies and shine a light on issues concerning body autonomy. The concert partially benefits the SAFE Alliance, which exists to stop abuse for everyone by serving the survivors of child abuse, sexual assault, trafficking, and domestic violence.

Da Capo: Stripped

james: book of ruth
On June 11-12, 2027, Inversion’s pro mixed choir presents Austin composer Steven Sérpa’s “james: book of ruth” with libretto by Zachary Kline. This dramatic oratorio deals with the LGBTQ+ community’s experiences of HIV/AIDS and stigma. It is partly inspired by the rejection the composer received from the composer’s fundamentalist Christian family along with his experiences in a serodiscordant relationship; it is also inspired by the healthcare and advocacy work of Ruth Coker Burkes in Arkansas during the height of the AIDS crisis. Our Inversion Cares partner for this concert is Project Transitions, an organization dedicated to serving people living with HIV by providing housing, and comprehensive support services in compassionate and caring environments.
