Presenting our New Artistic Director
The Inversion Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Katrina Saporsantos has been named our permanent Artistic Director and Conductor. Over the past 7 months, Rina served as our Interim AD, programming and leading two outstanding concerts with the professional Inversion Ensemble and Coda, our volunteer chorus for singers aged 50 and above. We are so excited to see what meaningful creativity she brings to light in our spring concerts and far beyond!
For those who don't know Rina, here is a quick bio:
Katrina Saporsantos is a Filipino soprano, conductor, composer, arts administrator, and actor based in Austin, TX. Besides her work with Inversion Ensemble, she is a section leader for Conspirare Symphonic Choir and Panoramic Voices, and a freelance opera singer and recitalist, one-fifths of the all-female vocal quintet VAMP, one-third of the voice-trumpet-piano trio Tatsulok, and one-half of the piano duo Kapwa. She maintains a private voice studio where she teaches students of varying musical levels. She passionately believes in the power of singing with one's authentic voice, and helps singers to demystify singing in order to achieve their goals.
Rina holds a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of the Philippines College of Music, and a Master of Music degree and Professional Studies certificate from the Manhattan School of Music. She continuously tries to find ways to use her art in innovative and meaningful ways by programming music that uplifts others and shines the light on various issues she feels strongly about.
A member of ASCAP, Rina is a fierce advocate of Filipino music and the creation and performance of new music, and programs as much of these as she can in her projects.
We're excited to share this news with you right now as our annual Fall Fund Drive is next week from November 3 - 9, and we have a goal of raising $12K. Help us to grant Rina the vital resources she needs to bring her amazing and inspiring visions to life in the spring and far beyond!
